Coaching Experience:  Assistant coach at Rensselear HS 1966-1969; assistant coach at Martinsville HS 1970-1972; head coach at Fountain Central HS 1973-1980 with record of 67-19; head coach at Bloomington South HS 1981; head coach at DeKalb HS 1982-1989 with record of 62-24; assistant coach DeKalb HS 2006-2009; career coaching record of 131-51 with 28 years of coaching experiencing.    

Coaching Honors:  Wabash River Conference Champions 1975, 1976, 1979, 1980; State Football Play-offs 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979; Class A State Runner-up 1978; NEIAC Conference Champion 1985; NHC Conference Champion 1989; Cluster Champion 1984, 1985; Class 4A Sectional Champion 1986, 1989, Regional Champion 1986, Semi-state Champion 1986, and State Champion 1986; assistant coach North All-Star Team 1979; head coach North All-Star Team 1987; Class 4A Coach of the Year by Bloomington Herald-Telephone 1986 and Louisville Coach of the Year Clinic 1986; News-Sun Evening Star Coach of the Year 1983, 1986, 1988; Conference Coach of the Year NEIAC 1985 and NHC 1989; two undefeated regular seasons at 10-0 1975, 1976.

Outstanding Players Coached:  Fountain Central players Joe Haniford (North All-Star Team/Rose Hulman); Donnie Bell (Franklin College), and Kenton Huston (North All-Star Team); DeKalb players, all of whom were North All-Star Team players, Brian Dapp (Purdue University); Todd Myers; Mike Cochran (Butler University); Jim Wilson (Toledo University); Brian Raub (Toledo University); Rick Endsley (Butler/Ball State University); Stuart Allison (Ball State University); Eric Weber (St. Joseph College).

Special Recognition:  Retired from coaching 1989 to become principal at DeKalb HS; currently voluntarily assists his son, Jim, current head football coach at DeKalb.
