Coach John Pont and '68 IU Rose Bowl Team Honored

THE 1968 ROSE BOWL TEAM AND BIG TEN CHAMPIONS OF INDIANA UNIVERSITY, ALONG WITH COACH JOHN PONT AND PLAYER TERRY COLE, WERE HONORED AT THE INDIANA FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME JULY 27, 2010.  The day began with the dedication of Coach Pont's image placed on the outside of the Hall of Fame.  Former IU assistant coach, Nick Mourauzis, 1967-1968 team captain, Doug Crusan, and current IU coach, Bill Lynch, spoke to those gathered for the unveiling.  Coach Pont's wife, Sandy Pont, and two of his children, Jeff and Jennifer,  pulled the cord to unveil the 5' X 8.5' banner.  Team members present enjoyed reminiscing and getting together with former coaches and members of the Pont family.  The day concluded with the annual Hall of Fame Golf Classic held at Dye Golf at the Sagamore Resort on Brookville Lake.  Hall of Fame inductees present included Lynch, Mourauzis, Fry, Crusan, and John Isenbarger.  The efforts of former IU assistant coach, Jay Fry, and former team captain, Doug Crusan, to make the day possible were greatly appreciated by all.  The Hall of Fame also thanks all who have made contributions to the Hall in memory of Coach Pont and Terry Cole.  Memorial contributions are still being accepted and are deeply appreciated.
