Coaching Experience:  Assistant football coach at Southport HS, Indianapolis, 1962-1965; head coach at Higginsville HS, MO, 1966-1969; assistant coach at Central Missouri State University 1970-1973; head coach at Oak Grove HS, MO, 1974; head coach at Franklin Central HS, Indianapolis, 1974-1990; 145-46 record at Franklin Central and 165-70-1 overall as a head coach; retired from coaching end of 1990 season, but returned as defensive coordinator at Franklin Central for 2011 season.

Coaching Honors:  Indiana Football Coaches Association District 7 Coach of the Year 1980, 1982, 1988; head coach for South All-Stars 1981; Region 7 All-Star Coach 1986 and Coach of the Year 1988-1989; Central Suburban Athletic Conference Coach of the Year 1976, 1979-1980, 1986-1987, 1990; Indianapolis Downtown Kiwanis Football Coach of the Year 1982-1986; Champion Toyota Clinic Indiana Coach of the Year and Bloomington Herald Coach of the Year 1980-1982 and 1990; Indianapolis News Coach of the Year 1986 and 1988; Indianapolis Star Coach of the Year 1987; 35-6 record in state tournament competition, with 1990 team ranked 25th in nation by USA Today.

Outstanding Players Coached:  4 Phil N. Eskew Award winners; 2 Indianapolis Dowtown Kiwanis Scholastic Achievement Award winners; 9 South All-Stars, 7 District All-Stars, 29 First Team All-State selections, 35 First Team All-Marion County selections, and 60 All-Central Suburban Athletic Conference selections.

Special Recognition:  Received IFCA North-South All-Star Game Distinguished Service Award 1987; Indiana Football Coaches Association District 7 Director-Elect and Director 1976-1978.
