High School Honors:  3-year football letterman and team captain; 4-year track and field letterman; member of 1st and 2nd State Track and Field Championship Team 1951, 1952; won State Broad Jump 1951, 1952, breaking a 20-year record of 23 ft. 2 1/2 in; member of State Record Mile Relay teams 1951, 1952; earned All-American High School Track and Field Honors as 3rd best prep broad jumper in US; 3-year basketball letterman and team captain; received Roosevelt's Most Valuable Athlete Award 1952.

College Honors:  Set all-time U of I scoring record of 11 TDs in 1954; won Big 10 Scoring Championship 1954; led Big Ten in punt return and kick-off return averages; earned All-Mid-West and All-Big Ten Honors; Honorable Mention All-American; 3-year track and field letterman; Big Ten Indoor Long Jump Champion 1953, 1954; 4th in NCAA Long Jump Championship 1953, 1954.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant football coach at Gary Tolleston HS and assistant track and field coach 1960-1966, with track team winning State Championship 1966; assistant football coach at Gary Froebel 1966-1968; head basketball coach at Froebel 1968-1969; head basketball coach at Gary Emerson 1970-1980, with 1975 team winning Semi-State; head basketball coach at Gary Lew Wallace 1980-1994, with 1983 and 1986 teams reaching Semi-State and advancing to final 8.

Special Recognition:  6-year member of State Case Review Panel (Athletics); Gary School Corporation Curriculum Coordinator H.P.E. R.; City Athletic Director.
