High School Honors:  National Honor Society and Quill & Scroll National Journalistic Society; participated in varsity football, baseball, and wrestling.

College Attended:  Manchester College         Graduated:  1971

College Honors:  Played varsity football 1963-1964; assistant student coach 1969-1971.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant football, head wrestling, assistant track coach at New Palestine 1971-1976; head football coach at Tri-High 1976-1979; head football coach at Norwell 1979-1999; served as girls track coach 1979-1988; assistant boys track coach in 1990s and head coach 2002-2003.

Coaching Honors:  NHC Coach of the Year 1999; ACAC Coach of the Year; Ft. Wayne newspapers Coach of the Year 1980; teams won 4 Conference Championships, 4 Sectionals, 1 Regional, and 1 Semi-state; had 20 winning seasons in his 24 years as head coach; career football coaching record was 161-90.

Outstanding Players Coached:  Jeff Miller (Indiana State), Matt Kinzer (Purdue), Kent Somer (Purdue), Ryan Gerbers (USA Today All-American), David Hanselman (Harvard), Jim Wolmsley (Taylor), and Butch Alder (Purdue).
