High School Honors:  Honorable mention All-State halfback 1937; All-State halfback 1938; undefeated team; state scoring leader, with 126 points in 1938; second highest points scored in a season at Valparaiso; earned 3 letters in football, 2 in basketball, and 3 in baseball; senior class president.

College Attended:  Indiana and Ball State Universities    Graduated:  1951

College Honors:  Placed 6th in college/university scoring in Indiana 1942; ICC Champions 1942; second team All-State halfback 1942; Varsity “B” Club president 1946-1947; earned letters in football 1942-1946 and baseball 1942, 1946, 1947; Blue Key Education Honorary; Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.

Coaching Experience:  All in Valparaiso Community School - junior high school football, basketball, and track coach 1947-1950; high school football coach 1950-1971; assistant to 5 different coaches in 25 years; also head swimming and baseball coach.

Coaching Honors:  Undefeated seasons under head coach Tom Stokes in 1969 and 1970.

Special Recognition:  Served in military during WW II; was on football service team 1943-1945; also played on US Army III Corps basketball and baseball teams.

Family:  Wife, Martha "Joyce" (deceased); children, Robert, Jr. (deceased), Lynne, Kevin, and Brian (wife, Gaylene).
