High School Honors:  Played end on football team, lettering in 1935, 1936; played center and forward on basketball team, lettering 1936, 1937; ran high and low hurdles, lettering in 1936, 1937; 2nd place in Indiana State meet in high hurdles 1937.
College Attended:  Purdue University          Graduated:  1941

College Honors:  Played end in football, lettering 1938-1940; ran high and low hurdles, lettering 1940-1941; set an American indoor record in 60 yard low hurdles at Butler Relays 1940; member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; Liberty’s All-Players All-American 1939; Paramount News All-American 1939; Collier’s All-American 1940; All-American Board of Football 1940; captain of football team and Most Valuable Player 1940; Chicago All-Star Game and captain 1941.

Entered U.S. Navy on August 5, 1941; relieved of active duty from U.S. Marine Air Corp as captain 1946.

Coaching Experience:  Field coach at Purdue University since March 1946; freshman football and track coach 1947; tutored 15 All-Americans.

Special Recognition:  Sports Illustrated Silver Anniversary All-American Award 1965; head track coach for USA team in World University Games in Rome in August 1975.
