College Honors: Played both offense and defense; Most Valuable Player of team 1947 and 1948; Most Valuable Player Big 9 (now Big 10) and All-American Football First Team Selection 1948; received Chicago Tribune award; team won Rose Bowl 1949 over University of California 20-14; played in East-West Shrine Game 1950; on the All-Star Football Team in 1950; recorded 4.9 yards per carry.
Professional Athletic Background: Played for the Detroit Lions 1951; played at Great Lakes Naval Center and was coached by Tony Hinkle; Service Champs 1943.
Special Recognition: Selected as member of Northwestern University's All-Time All-American Football Team 1970; football official for 20 years; Indiana State Representative 1965-1972; served as an inheritance tax appraiser and deputy appraiser for real estate.
