Coaching Experience:  Head football coach Westfield HS 1964-1967; head coach Noblesville HS 1967-1980; head coach Carmel HS 1980-1996; career record of 272-76-2.

Coaching Honors:  Indiana Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year; IFCA District 7 and District 8 Coach of the Year; 4 State Championships 1980, 1981, 1986, 1991; 1 State Runner-up 1979; 5 Semi-State, 9 Regional, 15 Sectional, and 24 Conference Championships; North-South All-Star game head coach for South 1976 and 1987; received recognition as Coach of the Year from Butler Alumni Association, Noblesville Ledger, Bloomington Herald, Indiana Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association; Noblesville Jaycees, Indianapolis Old Timer's Club.

Special Recognition:   Indiana Football Coaches Association - Past-President, Vice President, Board of Directors and Region Director; served on Board of Directors of Indiana Football Hall of Fame; football representative for Indiana High School Coaches Association 1978-19979; National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations, Committee and National Convention Speaker 1981-1982; served as Hamilton County Commissioner 1993-1996 and as American Legion Post #1155 Education Director, 1990-1996; received Governor's Sagamore of the Wabash award; awarded Key to the City of Carmel; Noblesville recognized him with a Jim Belden Day; received recognition from Carmel Clay Kiwanis Club, Carmel Chamber of Commerce, and Hamilton Centers Service to Youth Award; ran a highly successful lineman's camp for aspiring high school players for many years.
