High School Honors:  Captain of football team;  All-State; played in North-South All-Star Game; American Legion Award for Outstanding Senior Boy.

College Attended:  Indiana University         Graduated:  1958 

College Honors:  Lettered 3 years and captained senior year; played offensive and defensive guard; awarded Big Ten Lineman of the Week after game with Purdue.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant coach at Hobart 5 years, becoming head coach in 1966; coaching record of 244-54-2 at time of induction. 

Coaching Honors:  Teams have won 3 State Championships, 6 Runner-up titles, 10 Semi-State titles, 11 Regionals, and 13 consecutive Sectional titles; IFCA Coach of the Year, IHSAA Coach of the Year, Post-Tribune Coach of the Year, Hammond Times Coach of the Year, IFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year, and American Motors Coach of the Year in Indiana; coached in North-South All-Star Game.

Outstanding Players Coached:  Bob Kuechenberg, Mike Kaczmarek, Charlie Boston, Dave Tipton, Bob Kobza, Donny Howell, Jr., Rob Johnston, Jon Eickstead, Robert Mattis, John Dubenetzky, Jerry Spicer, Ted and Tony Karras, Tim O'Brien, Joe Galovic, Scott and Mike Golarz, Willie Burrios, and Ron German.
