High School Honors:  Standout at halfback and quarterback; scored 55 points in 1948; named to All-Northeastern Indiana High School Conference Team; scored 101 points in 1949; made All-Conference Team; voted Most Valuable Player on team; also received 3 varsity letters in track and 2 in basketball.

College Attended:  University of Chattanooga, TN                    Graduated:  1954

College Honors:  Played fullback and halfback but suffered a serious knee injury during fifth game in freshman year and was kept on the sidelines for 2 1/2 years serving as manager; in the 4 1/2 games of his freshman year, led  team with 10 kickoff returns for 182 yards and tied for first with 36 points; played as a senior, racing for touchdowns on runs of 86 and 21 yards in first game.

Special Recognition:  Never fully recovered from knee injury; after two knee operations, doctors told him to give up the sport or face a possible crippling for life.

Family:  Wife, Mary; children, Deborah, Rockne, and Marilyn.

Mr. Hostetler passed away November 1, 1968.
