High School Honors: Wore leg braces until age 10 to strengthen his knees; won 10 varsity letters in football, basketball, and track; only freshman to win a varsity letter in football; played both offense and defense; first freshman in history of school to be elected president of Student Council; starting center as a junior on 1944 basketball sectional championship team; one of 9 nominees for South Bend Tribune's Football Conference MVP; captain of 1944 football team; in football, received the Kiwanis Award, Most Valuable Lineman, Adams Award as Most Outstanding Athlete, and South Bend Tribune's All-Twin City Football Eleven-First Team All-Conference; State shot-put champion 1944 and 1945; offered a scholarship to Michigan State for track but accepted a football scholarship to Indiana University.

College Honors: 4-year varsity football letterman, playing both offense and defense; 2-year varsity track letterman; as a freshman, picked to start at right tackle on 1945 IU team that won Big Ten Conference Championship with a 9-0-1 record; Indianapolis Star's All-Indiana, 2nd team 1945; Indianapolis News All-State, 2nd team 1945-1946 and 1st team 1947-1948; UP All-Big Ten, 2nd team; earned All-American Honorable Mention in 3 of his seasons; All-Midwestern Team Honorable Mention 1948; started every game at right tackle during freshman and sophomore years; an injury to a knee kept him out after the third game of his junior season, but he came back as a senior to lead the Hoosiers as their captain; often played 60 minutes, shifting from offense to defense; was selected to play on North Team in the Blue-Grey Classic; was named to 1949 All-Star Team.

Professional Athletic Background: Played professionally at tackle and guard with Chicago Cardinals of National Football League 1949-1950.

Special Recognition: An insurance agent with Jefferson National Life Insurance Company for 22 years.

Family: Wife, Barbara; children, Jane, William, and Frank; 4 grandchildren.

Mr. Goldsberry passed away January 23, 1972.
