Special Recognition: Honored for his dedication to Portage Township Schools, particularly the maintenance of the football fields; worked for Principal Dr. Teon, Athletic Director Larry Casbon, and Football Coach Les Klan; his work on the football field exceeded normal requirements; designed a "P" in the center of the field that was easily seen from all areas of the stadium, and cut the grass in such a way that special patterns were created; the Portage Football Field was recognized as one of the first high school fields to have a professional look; his work was mentioned many times on the radio and television during the broadcast of home games; retired in February, 1998, after 25 years of maintaining the football field.

Family: Wife, Nancy; children Nancy, Elizabeth, Stephen, Donald, Linda, Thomas, and Sandra; 9 grandchildren.

Mr. Atterberry passed away September 26, 2014.
